Evaton — surveyed into freehold stands in 1904, where Black South African families could hold land in their own names

In 1904 this ground was surveyed into stands that Black families could buy and hold in their own names — freehold title, at a time when almost nowhere else allowed it.

Evaton is being built to look after what that means: the land, the record, and the people still living on it. The platform opens soon.
